Good Scientific Practice - Protecting Research Integrity
The major objective of this workshop is to know and understand the basic principles and rules of the responsible conduct of research. The participants will explore differences and grey areas between good practice, questionable practices and scientific misconduct. They will learn how misconduct can be recognized and prevented and why and how it should be addressed and dealt with. The participants will learn how to protect their work and are encouraged to speak with colleagues about important issues. The content of the workshop follows the curriculum “Good scientific practice” which was developed in cooperation with the German Research Ombudsman.
Get started: Aspects of Good Research Practice in Doctoral Studies
This short workshop raises awareness of the many aspects of good research practice among prospective doctoral candidates and early-stage doctoral researchers. It also provides information on relevant regulations, advisory services, and training opportunities offered by Trier University. Participants can use this information to create an individual curriculum tailored to their specific needs, enabling them to further develop their competencies and knowledge of good research practice.
eLearning: Good Research Practice in Doctoral Studies
In cooperation with the Graduate Academy of Goethe University Frankfurt (GRADE), which designed this interdisciplinary course, the Graduate Center of Trier University (GUT) offers an online self-study course. The course covers additional topics relevant to doctoral studies, such as how to effectively plan and organise a research project, as well as legal aspects that may be relevant for doctoral researchers, including employment law and copyright law.
