Information for exchange students for the second semester of your stay (summer 2026)
The winter semester lecture period ends on February 13, 2026. As you will also be spending the summer semester 2026 at Trier University, we send you important information about the next steps:
To ensure that you can complete all the necessary steps in good time, here is the most important information on:

Signing up for exams
Please remember to contact the lectures about dates and modalities for your final exams, if you have not done so yet. Please be advised that exchange students cannot sign up for exams in Porta (exception: double degree students!) but have to discuss this with lectures/email. Please also mention that you are an exchange student and your student ID (Matrikelnummer) when doing so.
Transcript of records
Please read the information in the document Transcript of Records – Information carefully.
To obtain a Transcript of Records, you must actively (!) submit an application – please use the Application Form provided for this purpose.
You must complete one form for each department in which you have taken courses and send it to the department(s). The form has drop-down fields. Therefore, please use PDF software that supports form editing to fill it out. We recommend programs such as Adobe Acrobat Reader DC (available free of charge) or Microsoft Edge.
Moving out
Certain procedures must be followed when moving out of the dormitory room.
You must:
- Make an appointment with the janitor in good time before moving out (Deadline: 2nd February)
- Clean the rooms properly before handing them over (incl. washing the duvet and pillow).
- Submit an application to get your deposit back (only necessary if the bank account for the refund is different than for the direct debiting of the rent or if you need the desposit in cash) - Deadline: 2nd February

Re-enrolment - Deadline 15th March
Re-registration for the summer semester 2026 and validation of your student ID card (TUNIKA)
To continue to be enrolled at Trier University in the summer semester, you must (!) complete the so-called re-registration. Re-registration can be completed from 15 January at the earliest and must be completed by 15 March 2026 at the latest!!!
To re-register, you need to pay the semester fee of 353,80€. This is how you can make the payment:
- by EC or credit card at the TUKAN cash machines in the A, C and V buildings and on Campus II
- by bank transfer (see further information and account details for the bank transfer here)
As soon as you have paid the semester fee and thus re-registered, you need to renew (=‘validate’) the validity of your TUNIKA. You can do so at the validation machines (grey box next to the TUKAN ticket machines in the A, C and V buildings and on Campus II) by inserting your TUNIKA. A new validity period will then be printed on your card.
Registration for courses in summer semester
The course catalogue for the summer semester is expected to be available in PORTA from 3rd of February. Therefore, you need to check and register for courses in the summer semester via PORTA again! The deadlines for registering for courses are not yet known, so please check PORTA in good time. The lecture period of the summer semester starts again on 13 April 2026.
We ask you to send us your Learning Agreement for summer semester until 20th February.
Other
Only in case you change your accommodation after the first semester:
a) Inform us, your health insurance and your German bank about your new address.
c) At the beginning of the semester, you (together with us) have registered with the City of Trier. Please remember to change your registration with the city (as the city just changed the procedure to do so: please contact us by email if this is relevant for you!
d) Please also remember to change the registration for the broadcasting fee with the following online form!
