Application Deadline and next steps Trier University - sent by email on 10 December 2025
Dear exchange student,
If you haven´t sent us the application for your exchange mobility yet (by email, incl. the signature of your home university!): Please remember that our application deadline is December 15. We will not accept any applications after this date.
If you have already sent us your documents by email: We are currently reviewing them and will contact you if we have any questions. If you do not hear from us, you will receive your admission letter by the end of next week (or in early January if there are any questions/issues).
What happens next?
- Our office will be closed from December 20 to January 8.
- In mid-January, we will offer an initial online meeting for you—we will explain the next steps and you are welcome to ask questions. You will receive an invitation at the beginning of January.
- At the end of January, you will receive our room offer if we are able to offer you a room.
- Please note our deadline for taking out health insurance (proof required by February 6). You must choose and take out health insurance yourself. You can find our guide on the application website and also here: “Health insurance.” General information about the insurance system in Germany is also available on the DAAD website.
2. Updated brochure, course choice, follow up website - sent on 12 Dec 25
- On our application website, you find the very important brochure for exchange students. We just noticed that some of the links in the brochure did not work. We have now fixed this issue and uploaded the updated brochure again. Please make sure to take a look at it again (click on the brochure on the application website)!
For example, you will find :
- links regarding Visa requirements
- links to the departments/subjects websites for exchange students ect.
- Course choice: When starting your course choice/preparing your Learning Agreement, please take a look at our course choice instructionsfor incoming students on the general incoming students website. You will find a lot of useful guides and tips there! Most important: Contact the departmental coordinators for academic advice – you will find their contacts here: www.ects.uni-trier.de! Please do not hesitate to ask them and do so as early as possible. Please remember: Most courses on Bachelor/undergraduate level at Trier University are taught in German. If you do not know any German, please make sure to follow the suggested steps as early as possible!
- New follow up website: As you will receive a lot of information by email from us in the upcoming months, we will “post” the emails sent to all new exchange students on the follow-up-website “Important steps after your admission”. If you want to re-read any of the information we´ve sent, you will find it there.
