Add-On Module - German for Healthcare Professions
Intensive language course for medical, nursing and therapeutic purposes
(for language levels B1 - B2)
In addition to general German language skills, this intensive course teaches specific language skills for everyday working life in the nursing and healthcare sector. You will learn practical and study-related communication for typical situations in healthcare and therapeutic facilities.
In collaboration with local healthcare institutions and the Department of Nursing Science at Trier University, we offer a range of academic events and workshops on health topics, as well as on studying, working, and living in the Trier region. In addition, there will be opportunities to experience working life at healthcare facilities and meetings with German and international healthcare professionals.

- Prospective or qualified healthcare professionals
- Students of nursing or healthcare sciences at partner universities
- Individuals seeking a career in the German healthcare sector or a degree in nursing/healthcare science
Requirements
- Minimum age: 18
- Language level: A2 (completed before the start of the course)
Your Learning Objectives
You will …
- acquire general and healthcare-specific German language skills.
- expand your technical vocabulary and communication skills for everyday work in German healthcare and nursing settings, as well as for studying healthcare/nursing sciences
- get to know the professional environment of the German healthcare sector on site.
- gain insight into university life in Germany.
- experience German culture, the city of Trier and its history.
- explore the region, Luxembourg and the city of Metz in France.
- Build valuable professional contacts and form international friendships.
Certification & ECTS Credits
Upon successful completion, you will be awarded a certificate and a total of 8 ECTS credits.
(5 ECTS for the general German language course and 3 additional ECTS for German for Healthcare Professions).
Evening & Cultural Activities
Enjoy a variety of fun and cultural activities in the evenings, including city tours, BBQ parties, game nights, volleyball, the international dinner, quiz nights, dance evenings, concerts, and other cultural events.
On the weekends there will be excursions to the region as well as to France and Luxembourg.


Accommodation
Participants can choose between single, double, or triple apartments with private bedrooms, or stay with a host family.





Prices
This optional add-on module is incluced in the language course fee. There is no additional fee for the module German for Healthcare Professions.

The IFK4Health project is funded by the Nikolaus Koch Foundation and was developed in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Ana Nanette Tibubos from the university's Department of Nursing Science and Ms. Natalie Martin from the International Office. The Nikolaus Koch Foundation is a non-profit foundation that has been involved in education and assistance for people with disabilities in the Trier region since 1993.
