From Control to Governance: Rethinking the U.S. - Mexico Border

On 8 July 2026, UniGR-CBS Trier is organising a lecture followed by a networking event. María Verónica Elías, associate professor for public administration at the University of Texas at San Antonio and UniGR-CBS Fellow at RPTU Kaiserslautern, will speak on the challenges of governance at the US-Mexico border. The lecture is open to anyone interested.

Conference for Carceral Geography

The 6th International Conference for Carceral Geography will take place at Trier University on 15 and 16 September 2026. This year's conference will focus on an interdisciplinary examination of the topics of Carcerality, Borders, and Mobility. The event is being organised by the Carceral Geography Working Group.

Workshop “Tourism and Leisure at the Border”

From 30 September to 01 October 2026, UniGR-CBS Trier invites you to a two-day workshop in Trier led by Prof. Dr. Fabian Frenzel and JProf. Dr. Michael Mießner. The workshop is a continuation of the Open Space held in November 2025 as part of the Seminar Border Studies and deals with the topic of Tourism and Leisure at the Border. Interested researchers are cordially invited to participate in the conference and take part in the cross-border exchange.
