Is the desired course admission restricted or free?
admission restricted
means:
⇒ that there are a lot more applicants for the course than seats available in the course. For this reason the dean implements an admission restriction, also called "NC - numerus clausus" .
⇒ that all applicants first need to apply to the course ("Bewerbung auf einen Studienplatz"). When the deadline has passed, seats in the course are awarded (within the Vergabeverfahren) based on the grade of the University qualification certificate and/or the waiting semesters.
- For the admission restricted BA courses applicants
- for the first semester have to register at the Dialogorientierte Service-Verfahren (DoSV) at hochschulstart.de. After registering there, the applicant has to register at the application portal of Trier University (in PORTA: download "Bewerbung auf einen Studienplatz", sign and send in by Post to Trier University). The award of the seats (Vergabeverfahren) is handled centrally by hochschulstart.de.
- for higher semesters do not need to register at hochschulstart.de, as the award of the seats (Vergabeverfahren) is handled directly at the University of Trier. Therefore the applicant only has to register in the application portal of Trier University (in PORTA: download "Bewerbung auf einen Studienplatz", sign and send in by Post to Trier University)
- For the admission restriced MA courses applicants do not need to register at hochschulstart.de, as the award of the seats (Vergabeverfahren) is handled directly at the University of Trier. Therefore the applicant only has to register in the application portal of Trier University.
⇒ that all applicants, who successfully have been awarded a seat, have to actively accept the seat in Porta by completing the Online Enrolment.
► Here you can find a list of the currently admission restricted (NC) courses and results of the past semesters.
► Click here for the request Härtefall Sonderanträge (only possible for BA course in the 1st semester, not possible for MA courses)
► In some semesters, if after the award of seats (Vergabeverfahren) still seats are available, these can be awarded by lottery: Restplätze/Losverfahren
admission free
means:
⇒ that anybody who applies and who meets the admission requirements will be granted admission to the course (no seat limitation). One of the admission requirements, i.e. for a master course, might be a minimim grade of the BA degree, which has to be met. All admission requirements are listed in the examination rules (German only).
