Acute Stress and Aggression
Contact: Greta Baldanzini
This project investigates how acute psychosocial stress influences aggressive behaviour and the mechanisms underlying this relationship. Using established laboratory stress-induction paradigms such as the Trier Social Stress Test for Groups (TSST-G), the research examines the effects of stress on aggression through a combination of behavioural and self-report measures. The aim is to advance our understanding of the factors that contribute to aggressive responses in everyday social interactions and conflict situations. Beyond behavioural outcomes, the project will explore the biological pathways linking stress and aggression, with a particular focus on neuroendocrine markers such as cortisol and testosterone. By integrating psychological, behavioural, and biological approaches, the project seeks to contribute to a more comprehensive understanding of how stress shapes social behaviour and interpersonal functioning.
