About - Dr. Christin Hansen
Since October 2025, I have been a research assistant at the Chair of Modern History at the University of Trier. Prior to that, from 2021 to 2025, I was employed as part of the academic staff in the Department of Modern and Contemporary History at the University of Paderborn. I am currently working on my postdoctoral research project under the working title “International Participation of Women in the Spanish Civil War: Concepts and Practices of Female Participation in the Interwar Period”. In this context, I am particularly interested in the tension between voluntary military service and gender, using the Spanish Civil War as a case study.
In my research and teaching, I focus on cultural-historical themes in the international history of the 19th and 20th centuries, with a particular emphasis on questions relating to colonial discourses, national movements, war and gender, as well as research into historical stereotypes.
