The Chair's teaching and research focuses on the relevance and interrelationship of ideas, individuals, and institutions in world politics. Specifically, this involves five interrelated key aspects: Foreign Policy and Diplomacy, International Organizations and Global Governance, Peace and Conflict Studies, Political Theory and Philosophy of International Relations, and Politics and Governance under the Conditions of Globalization. The emphasis here is on the structural change of international relations, the impact potential of different actors and ideas, and the transformation of political governance processes. On the following pages you will find information about our team, our teaching and research activities, and resources for orientation in the universe of International Relations.
Next Week, Ms. Lisa Apitz, Attachée at the Federal Foreign Office will talk about her experiences as an diplomat in training, the professional field of diplomacy and her personal path to the Federal Foreign Office.

All students who have started their Master's program "International Relations and Diplomacy" (short: IBID) in this winter term 2020/21 are cordially invited to a first welcoming event.
► Due to current developments in connection with the Corona pandemic, we have nevertheless unfortunately had to decide to hold the welcome event online via ZOOM on Thursday, 29.10.2020 at 12:00h c.t.. This will also allow for relatively straightforward participation for those of you who are currently unable to be on-site in Trier. Please note that participation in meetings and events is possible without registration via the Zoom client.
It would be great if you can participate with a microphone and web cam so that not only can you see and hear us, but we can also see and hear you and get to know you by face and voice. If you already have a professional email address at the University of Trier, you will receive the access data for the ZOOM meeting promptly by email. If you do not yet have a university email address, please contact your program coordinator Dr. Sascha Werther (masteribiduni-trierde) so that we can send you the access data by email.
We look forward to meeting you in person soon.
