Course Description

The seminar Trends in Digital Marketing & Services Marketing provides students with an in-depth understanding of current topics and developments in both subdisciplines. The focus lies on examining recent scientific and practice-relevant approaches as well as empirical findings that influence contemporary perspectives on digital and service-oriented contexts. As part of a group project, students analyze scholarly articles addressing a current issue and reflect on their implications for research and practice. Through this literature-based and project-oriented work, students gain a well-grounded overview of the current state of research in digital marketing and services marketing.

Upon completion of the course, students have an enhanced understanding of current trends and developments in digital marketing and services marketing and are able to classify and critically evaluate them from a scientific perspective. They can synthesize research findings, follow theoretical arguments, and assess their relevance for academic and practical questions. Furthermore, students develop competencies in academic work, particularly in critically engaging with scholarly literature, constructing structured arguments, and presenting and discussing research results. Overall, they are equipped to engage with emerging developments in a scientific manner and to understand their significance for research and practice.
