This master‘s-level course, which will be taught in English, provides and interdisciplinary approach to the study of European monetary integration and of the economic governance of the Eurozone. It covers the history of monetary integration in the European Union, its pros and cons, its basic institutional setup, the causes and effects of currency and sovereign debt crises, and options for reforming the basic rules and governance structures of the Eurozone.

This course includes “tandem sessions” which are one of the explicit interdisciplinary elements of the module. They indicate topics which will be analyzed from both the political and economic perspective and jointly presented by a pair of politics and economics students.

This course also includes a simulation of European Union decision making on the reform of the economic governance of the Eurozone and/or of political decision making to deal with the risk of sovereign default of Eurozone member states.
