You can apply for recognition of credits and/or semester placement if
- you are transferring from another university into a similar BA/MA or BSc/MSc programme at Faculty II,
- you are changing your degree programme within Trier University to a related subject in Faculty II,
- you are changing the examination regulations while continuing with the same subject.

Please fill out the application form digitally and then submit it in printed form, signed by hand, with the following attachments to the Dean's Office of Faculty II:
- current certificate confirming number of semesters enrolled (called “Studienverlaufsbescheinigung” in PORTA)
- transcript of records from your current degree programme at Trier University (called “Notenbescheinigung” in PORTA)
- transcript of records from the previous university or previous degree programme (copy).
Please ensure that you specify the exact name and examination regulations of the current and former degree programmes/subjects – it is not sufficient to simply tick BA/BSc HF or NF or MA/MSc HF or NF. If you wish to have have credits recognised for two subjects in Faculty II, please submit all documents in duplicate. The examination board will send the documents to both responsible departments at the same time with a request to issue a recommendation for recognition.
How to submit your applications:
- in person during office hours at the Dean's Office of Faculty II (B building, 2nd floor): Monday and Thursday 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- or: drop them in the "Dekanat FB II" post box (B building, 2nd floor)
- or: send them by post to the examination board (see application form for address).
The accreditation advisor in the relevant degree programme or subject will make a recommendation for the recognition of credits. The final decision lies with the examination board.
Please note that you can apply for the transfer of previously earned credits only after enrolment.
