Third Mission

Our goal is to ensure that scientific knowledge has an impact beyond the boundaries of the campus—reaching society, business, and the wider public. This so-called Third Mission is a central pillar of our work.

Making Science Accessible – Media Presence

While the academic community is vital for our research, we also consider it essential to communicate our activities and findings transparently and understandably to a broader audience.

Through numerous media contributions, we share current research results with the public, making them both accessible and comprehensible. In this way, we contribute to an informed, science-based dialogue on issues of societal relevance.

Building Bridges – Knowledge Transfer into Practice

Research and teaching that address practical and societal challenges only unfold their full impact when they extend beyond the university setting. For this reason, we place great importance on actively transferring our work into practice.

We maintain a close exchange with our practice partners and foster strong collaborations to further develop and apply scientific insights jointly. Our focus is not only on sharing research results externally but also on integrating practical knowledge, experience, and perspectives back into our research and teaching.

Our knowledge transfer activities include:

  • Involving practice partners in seminars
  • Guest lectures from academia and industry
  • Joint research projects with partners from business and society
