Arrival by plane
Nearby are the airports of Luxembourg, Saarbrücken and Frankfurt-Hahn.
Airport Luxemburg (LUX)
- The airport in Luxembourg is not connected to the German Federal Railway network. However, there are regular buses to get to a place with a train station. The bus connections can be found on the Deutsche Bahn website (start: Luxembourg Aeroport, Luxembourg and destination: Trier Hbf). - At the airport you can rent a car. Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz and National Car Rental have a counter at the airport. More detailed information can be found on the airport's website. The distance to Trier is about 70 km and takes about 30 minutes.
- There is an airport liner that runs between Luxembourg Airport and Trier. The airport liner operates between three and five times a day. A one-way trip takes about 45 minutes and costs EURO 12,00 per person. More detailed information can be found on the Airport Liner website. An advance booking is required; for an additional charge of EURO 9.00, the Airport Liner also travels to the hotel. Airport Saarbrücken (SCN)
- The airport in Saarbrücken is not connected to the German Federal Railway network. Therefore, you have to take a bus (regional bus line 10, travel time about 30 minutes) or a taxi (travel time about 20 minutes, price about EURO 25.00) from the airport Saarbrücken to the main station in Saarbrücken. There is then a regular train connection from Saarbrücken Central Station to Trier Central Station. This can be found on the internet pages of Deutsche Bahn. A one-way ticket costs EURO 12,90 and takes between 60 and 90 minutes depending on the train. Airport Frankfurt-Hahn (HHN)
- There is a bus connection between Frankfurt-Hahn Airport and the main train station in Trier. The buses run six times a day. A one-way trip takes about 80 minutes and costs EURO 12,00 per person. Arrival by train

Hotels to be recommended from Trier central station
In Trier there are of course many beautiful hotels; a search for hotels is possible online. Hotels in the historic old town around the "Porta Nigra", Trier's landmark, are the most recommendable of the residential area.

These hotels can be reached on foot from Trier main station in about 10 minutes. Taxis are of course always available at the station.
From the main station Trier / Porta Nigra to the university
- The university building can be reached in about 20 minutes by bus from the main train station in Trier or the Porta Nigra. A one-way ticket costs EURO 1.95. The buses travel as follows; an individual timetable can also be found on the website of the Stadtwerke Trier (then follow the link "Verkehrsbetrieb").
- From the bus stop Porta Nigra or from the main train station (bus station platform 5) you can take the city bus line 3 (every 5 - 10 minutes) during the day and from 6.45 pm the city bus line 83 (every 15-30 minutes) to the university. The buses carry the directions "Weidengraben" or "Tarforst".
- Then there are two possibilities: by another bus or on foot.
Continue by bus: After approx. 12 minutes, get off at the bus stop "Kohlenstraße" and change to the bus stop "Kohlenstraße" on the opposite side of the road. During the day (until 6:10 p. m.) a city bus line 4 leaves from there every half hour. You can continue to the stop "Petrisberg Geozentrum" (travel time approx. 2 minutes).
The rest of the way on foot: After approx. 11 minutes, get off at the "Bonifatius" stop. Go up the hill to the roundabout. At the roundabout turn right and follow this road. After about 10 minutes you reach the bus stop "Petrisberg Geozentrum". - The university building H is located about 100m from the bus stop "Petrisberg Geozentrum". The computer science department is located on the 4th and 5th floor of the high, white-blue main building.

Arrival by car
- Follow the signs to "Universität".
- If you come via Olewig, follow the university signs, then past the university in the direction of "Wissenschaftspark (Stadtmitte)". If you don't come via Olewig, you will go straight to Kohlenstraße.
- At the roundabout on Kohlenstraße take the exit "Campus II, Wissenschaftspark".
- Follow the signs "Campus II".
- The H-Building, in which the computer science building is located in, is the large light blue building on the left side.
