Curriculum Vitae

Ralf Schenkel has been a full professor of databases and information systems at Trier University since 2016. Previously, he worked at the University of Passau, Saarland University, and the Max Planck Institute for Computer Science. In 2001, he earned his doctorate with a thesis on transaction management in federated databases. He works at the interface of databases, information retrieval, and semantic information systems. His research focuses on searching semi-structured data, including the integration of heterogeneous information sources and the efficiency of large search engines. Recently, he has been working on mining and searching for complex argumentation structures and retrieval in digital libraries, in particular dblp.
