The exhibition will begin with a vernissage on 3 September at 6 p.m., at which the design groups will present their freedom trees. Interested parties can view the models and ideas during the opening hours of the Trier City Library until 28 September. An accompanying programme invites children and adults to participate with their ideas and visions.
"The ideas on a free and democratic society should not only find their place on the tree models, but also mature into new project ideas in the region through a joint, open exchange," explains Prof Dr Matthias Busch, Vice President of Trier University and head of the project. In order to generate concrete projects for the region out the ideas, interested parties can take part in the "Freedom Arena" on 14 September. Together with the members of the groups and numerous representatives from politics, culture, science and civil society, small and large projects for Trier and the region will be developed. A colourful programme with theatre, music and open discussion forums will support the creative process and promote inspiration.
Registration for the Freedom Arena and further information on the event and the exhibition can be found on the project website: freiheit.uni-trier.de.
The Freedom Tree project is taking place as part of the "Science Year 2024" programme funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The Freedom Arena is also supported by the State Centre for Political Education.
