University of the Greater Region - UniGR

Study and research in the heart of Europe

6 universities, 5 regions, 4 countries, 3 languages - infinite possibilities

The Greater Region is located in the heart of Europe. It covers Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate in Germany, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the French region of Lorraine and Belgian Wallonia with the French and German-speaking communities in Belgium.

As a result of close networking between the partner universities, the cross-border confederation "University of the Greater Region - UniGR“ aims to increase the mobility of students, scientists and lecturers all whilst enriching the courses on offer and research profiles.

The partner universities involved have a total of around 115,000 students and around 6,000 teachers and researchers:

  • Universität Trier (D)
  • Universität des Saarlandes (D)
  • Université de Liège (B)
  • Université de Lorraine (F)
  • University of Luxembourg (L)
  • Technische Universität Kaiserslautern (D)

Teaching and research is in German, French and Luxemburgish (the three national languages found in the Greater Region) as well as in English. A variety of faculties, institutes and labs in the key teaching and research departments are networked with each other via the “University of the Greater Region”.

The confederation thereby offers added value to all: students & lecturers, doctorate students and (future) researchers.
