Student Counselling via Phone / Skype

The Student Counselling Centre continues to offer students and prospective students the opportunity to ask questions about studying, choosing a course of study, changing subjects, or how to prepare for a successful start to your studies.

We can be reached by:

1. Telephone (+49 651 201 2805): for short questions and to schedule appointments from Mon - Thurs: 09:00 - 14:00. If you are not able to reach us immediately, we are likely with another student.  We thank you for your patience and ask that you try again later. 


2. Via Videochat: for more detailed consultations during our regular consultation hours (Mon-Thu 10:00 - 11:00 and 13:30 - 14:30) meet us in our virtual Space at Wonder. All you need is

  • a Computer/Laptop with camera and microphone turned on
  • no download required, works with a browser (Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge, won't work with Safari), please disable add and tracking blockers

After connecting with our account, an advisor will be available for a video or audio call.

Do you have questions or concerns regarding the organisation of your studies?

Depending on the question, whether it is regarding administrative services or if it relates to your programme/course, then the contact person or advisor who is best placed to offer support will differ. On the page Advising Service - Beratungsangebote you will find an overview of the responsible offices for many topics relevant to your studies and examinations. Please review this page first.  

If you still not certain whom to contact, please contact the Info-Center of the Student Counselling Centre (ZSB) by email (zsbuni-trierde) or phone (0651 201 2805). They will be able to help you find the appropriate contact person.

For participation in courses and exams, please refer to the student’s checklist. Please remember to wear your mask as required and observe the physical distance and hygiene rules!

IT access (29.04.2020)

The ZIMK Helpdesk (helpdeskuni-trierde) processes incoming requests for support on a daily basis. Typically, the more straightforward problems can be solved quickly. In the event that your technical equipment and/or the existing network connection makes it difficult or almost impossible to use the digital services, a separate address has been set up to log these access issues: itzuganguni-trierde.

Opening of the University Library (29.04.2020)

The University Library is open for lending. The reading rooms remain closed until further notice.  As the library is now open, the previous extension of all loan periods including inter-library loans, ends on May 8, 2020.

The library has been open since April 22nd from 10:00 – 15:00, resuming loans and returns. Notifications for the return of borrowed materials, will be sent by e-mail.  However, in order for distancing protocols to be observed and for material to be returned based on the chronology of the loans, the emails for returns will be staggered over the coming weeks.  If returning your item in person, please wait for the email notification.   You may also return items by mail to the following address

If you have any questions regarding a return or the return process, please email the returns office. Please note that late fees will again be charged for exceeding the loan period.

Effective May 4, 2020, interlibrary loan orders for publications can once again be placed. The service had been previously discontinued throughout the country but is now being offered. Due to a temporary agreement between the Standing Conference of the Ministers of Education and Cultural Affairs of the Länder and the VG Wort, the corresponding articles may be delivered to users in electronic form (and not as hard copies) until the end of May.
