Selected research projects

Multimedia project: A Cultural History of the English Language on CD-ROM. University of Trier, 2001. The project presents the social and cultural history of the English language by means of multimedia in order to help non-native students of English develop a "cultural competence", which depends heavily on the understanding of the historical and cultural background of the English speaking communities. – The project was granted financial support from the Ministry of Education of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate.

A similar project in the German language was carried out with students at the University of Trier in 2005 and also published: Multimediaprojekt Englische Sprach- und Kulturgeschichte auf CD-ROM. Universität Trier, 2005.

Multimedia Editions of Medieval English Texts - MEMET. This project provides multimedia editions of texts which are commonly read in introductory courses. It is aimed at students who want to obtain access to medieval English texts and tries to facilitate the study of the history of the English language. The first text that has been published is Chaucer's 'General Prologue to the Canterbury Tales'. – The next edition will be a selection of Old English texts.
