Call for papers

The 34rd Annual Conference of the International Association for Forensic Phonetics and Acoustics (IAFPA) will be hosted by the Phonetics Department at Trier University. IAFPA is the professional association for forensic scientists and researchers who analyse voices, speech and audio recordings.

Dates: 26-29 July 2026

Venue: Trier University, Campus I, Buildings A and B, Universitätsring 15, 54296 Trier.

We invite proposals for papers on topics including, but not limited to:

  • Speaker/voice comparison
  • Speech and audio enhancement
  • Transcription
  • Questioned utterance analysis
  • Authentication of recordings
  • LADO (Language analysis for the determination of origin)
  • Automatic speaker recognition/comparison
  • Automatic dialect identification
  • Voice line-ups
  • Retrieval of population data
  • Exceptional case reports
  • Method validation and proficiency testing

Abstract details

The abstract length should not exceed two pages, including figures and references. Please use this template and submit your abstracts via EasyAbs. The abstracts will be reviewed using a single-blind scheme. Please include your name on the abstract and indicate whether you prefer to present your study as a poster or a talk.
