Das Special Issue »Sustainable Futures – Theorizing Sustainability« zielt darauf ab, einen Beitrag zur soziologischen Theoriebildung im Bereich Nachhaltigkeit zu leisten. Die Beiträge befassen sich mit der Frage, welche Ansätze, welche Empirien und welche interdisziplinären Perspektiven für die Untersuchung des Phänomens hilfreich sind. In Einzelbeiträgen und zwei Interviews (jeweils mit Andreas Diekmann und Jens Beckert) werden das Verhältnis von Theorie und Empirie sowie Fragen der Normativität des Gegenstandes und seiner Beforschung in den Blick genommen. Das Special Issue erscheint in englischer Sprache.
The special issue ‘Sustainable Futures – Theorising Sustainability’ aims to contribute to the development of sociological theory in the field of sustainability. The articles examine which approaches, empirical data and interdisciplinary perspectives are useful for investigating this phenomenon. Individual articles and two interviews (with Andreas Diekmann as well as with Jens Beckert) explore the relationship between theory and empirical research, as well as questions regarding the normativity of the subject matter and its study. The special issue is published in English.
