Admission Requirements for the M.Sc. Survey Statistics

§ 2 Admission requirements and recommended basic knowledge

(1) In addition to the admission requirements regulated in § 2 General Examination Regulations for the Master, students of the M.Sc. Survey Statistics must fulfill the following additional requirements:

Proof of a Bachelor's degree (acquisition of at least 180 ECTS credits at a domestic or foreign university)

  1. with a grade of 2.0 or better in a mathematical-statistical oriented course of study in mathematics, business mathematics, or statistics
  2. with a grade of 2.0 or better in the subjects of business administration, economics and sociology, if competencies amounting to 24 LP from the field of mathematics, statistics or quantitative methods are demonstrated.
  3. with a grade of 2.0 or better in a course of study affinitive to the previously listed Bachelor's programs, which has a share of at least 30 LP from the field of mathematics, statistics or quantitative methods.

The decision on equivalence and affinity, as well as on admission in case of a grade between 2.1 and 2.5, is made by the examination board on a case-by-case basis. In this case, the application must be accompanied by a letter of motivation for the course of study.

(2) In addition to the knowledge to be demonstrated, knowledge in the following areas is recommended and required for successful study:

  • Good knowledge of the programming language R is expected.
  • A good knowledge of English is required.

Please understand that the admission office can only grant admission to individual study programs after an application has been completed.

Therefore, please refrain from sending exams to check admission in advance.
