Health Psychology plays a crucial role in the organization and teaching of the Bachelor's program in Clinical Nursing and the Master's program in Interprofessional Health Care in the subject Nursing Science.
Our research focuses on health psychological issues among individuals with chronic heart diseases, particularly heart failure.
We investigate:
- How emotional factors such as depression and anxiety (e.g., fear of physical activity) impact the health status and survival of patients.
- Which aspects promote or hinder a physically active lifestyle in heart failure.
- How these characteristics can be diagnosed.
The research findings provide insights for new health psychological and nursing interventions for prevention and rehabilitation in chronic diseases.
Other research topics include gender differences in health behaviors and stress management.
In teaching, we provide students in the Bachelor's program with health psychological and general psychological fundamentals, as well as practical skills in the context of health promotion. Another focus is on teaching quantitative research methods in the human and social sciences.
In the Master's program in Interprofessional Health Care, we teach students the requirements of diagnostic procedures, study-specific assessments, particularly related to risk and health behaviors and functionality, as well as person-centered communication, audience-specific communication of assessment results, communication within interprofessional teams, motivational interviewing, and much more.
