EEG-Labor von außen, PCs, Equipment, EEG-Hauben

Our Laboratory is equipped to realize different forms of transcranial electrical stimulation and concurrently record brain activity using EEG as well as behavior. The core of this infrastructure is a tES-EEG platform housed in an electrically shielded cabin. Besides this we have access to several behavioral labs as well as tVNS devices through the department of psychology and the Institute for Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience (ICAN).

 

 

Combined tES-EEG Platform

Our laboratory is equipped with a 64-channel active EEG-System (BrainProducts actiCHamp+) and a 33-channel tES-System (Soterix MxN-33). The devices can be combined without loss of electrode positions allowing us to record high density EEG before, after and during non-invasive brain stimulation. The system is housed in a sound proof, electrically shielded recording cabin (IAC GmbH).

Multi-Channel transcranial electrical stimulation (tES)

- Soterix MxN-33 tES device 

- tDCS, tACS, tRNS, temporal interference, etc.

- Stimulation with up to 33-channels

- Frequencies up to 5 kHz

- Stimulation intensities up to 5mA

- Dual electrode holders for simultaneous placement of EEG and tES electrodes

- Software: MxN-HD, SimNIBS

Stimulus Presentation

- TFT monitor (75 Hz) for visual stimulus presentation placed outside the EEG-Kabin to minimize electrical interference

- Low latency TriggerBox (USB to parallel Port) to align EEG recordings with Stimuli

- Photodiode to veryfy stimulus and trigger timing

- Software: Matlab Psychtoolbox, PsychoPy
