M.Sc. Shokouh Shomeil Zadeh Shoushtari


Biography:

Shokouh is a PhD student in the Department of Psychology at the University of Trier, working under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Yana Fandakova in the Learning Brain Lab. She holds a Bachelor’s degree and a first Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Tehran, Iran, as well as a second Master’s degree in Cognitive Sciences with a focus on neuroscience, perception, and cognition from the University of Kaiserslautern, Germany. Following her first Master’s degree, she pursued a dual career as both a therapist and researcher in Iran. Immediately after completing her second Master’s degree, she commenced her doctoral studies at the University of Trier.

Her research focuses on understanding how mechanisms of learning and memory evolve with age and how they are shaped by cognitive and environmental factors. She is especially interested in identifying potential explanations for age-related differences in false memory and how individual differences are reflected in the way that we remember events. 

Research Areas:

The cognitive and neural mechanisms of human memory, with a focus on how aging influences memory precision and susceptibility to different types of false memories, highlighting the contributing effects of learning, interference, and monitoring processes across the adult lifespan.
