We are the youngest department at the Institute of Psychology. In our research and teaching, we address various questions of neurocognitive development over the life span. Maturation, senescence and learning influence each other over time, leading to unique trajectories of cognitive development. In this context, we are particularly interested in the abilities of children, adolescents and older adults to adaptively shape learning and memory and to flexibly regulate their own thoughts and actions.
