Our main interests in research and teaching are in software engineering and information visualization. In particular, we analyze the evolution of software systems and apply visualization in software engineering. We apply both empirical as well as constructive research methods. On the one hand, we perform empirical studies to better understand how software developers actually work or what kinds of visualizations are more effective. On the other hand, we develop tools to facilitate and improve the analysis and development of software. In the area of visualization we are mostly interested in dynamic networks, i.e. structural information which changes over time.
