Welcome to the Social Influence Lab!

We are interested in understanding undesired human social behavior. This includes but is not limited to conspiracy beliefs and their antisocial outcomes (e.g., norm violations), biases such as stereotypic, or scientific misconduct. We are keen on understanding the causes and processes underlying it, its social consequences, as well as means to change the behavior and intervention development. Thus, we apply methods and theories from social, motivational, and cognitive psychology, but our work sometimes also speaks to applied subdisciplines of psychology and metascience.

We preregister (almost) all of our studies, share data, scripts, and materials, and communicate transparently what we did and why in our publications. In short, we practice open science and strive to continuously improve in this regard.

The Social Influence Lab brings together scientists at the Professorship for Psychology at Trier University and scientists working at the Leibniz Institute for Psychology (ZPID). We invite applications by students interested in writing their (B.Sc., M.Sc., or PhD) thesis or doing an internship or a lab visit with us.
