Research

The activities in research of the Department of Soil Science are developed out of a connection of the areas Soil Physics, Soil Biology and Soil Chemistry, in which a combination of experimental approach and external cooperation will receive particular attention.

Current primary subject matters are:

  • Processes, mechanisms and places of disposition, transport or rather the decomposition and transformation of contaminants and harmful substances in soil,
  • The influence of secondary raw material as well as of harmful substances and mixes of the latter on functions of the soil, in particular abundances, activities and the diversity of soil biota,
  • The character of infiltration and discharge processes in landscapes,

  • Questions concerning soil compaction and land reclamation within the context of daylight mining.
