About the book:
Why do citizens vote for right-wing parties like the AfD, whose policies often contradict even their own interests? This book discusses psychological factors to explain this phenomenon. The main thesis is that the AfD offers apparent solutions in three central areas of conflict (economy, identity, trust). Using a wide variety of sources such as language analyses, election statistics, and party platforms, the effect of the party on the electorate is analyzed against the background of current psychological theories. Finally, the book offers a pragmatic outlook on education and prevention to counteract right-wing populist tendencies.
