Workshop venue:
The workshop takes place in Room A 9/10 (Building A) , located on Campus I of Trier University. Coffee and drinks will be provided at the venue throughout the workshop. All workshop participants will receive lunch at the cafeteria (Building M) free of charge. Please refer to the following links for a map of Campus I and floorplans of the different buildings and a virtual campus tour.
Getting around Trier
Your workshop name tag will also serve as a free ticket for public transport in Trier (buses) on the two workshop days (Oct 10 and 11).

Directions by car & free parking at Trier University
Arrival by plane
Please note that the closest airport to Trier is Luxembourg Airport, with regular bus and train services operating between Luxembourg Airport and Trier. The easiest route is via bus 302 from Luxembourg, Findel Aéroport Quai 4 to Trier, Christophstraße (right in front of Porta Nigra). Bus 302 operates hourly on weekdays. Tickets can be purchased from the bus driver. On weekends, bus 303 operates hourly between Trier Hauptbahnhof and Kirchberg, Gare routière Luxexpo. From Gare routière, you can reach the airport by transferring to bus 16 heading towards Aéroport Luxembourg/Findel. Plan your trip and find all the available bus and train connections for your point of arrival on Luxembourg’s website for public transport.
If you arrive at Frankfurt or Köln/Bonn airport, please account for at least 3-4 hours for a train ride to Trier. You can plan your trip by making use of the Deutsche Bahn website.
Shuttle service possible
Late arrival in Luxembourg?
For participants with late flights to Luxembourg, we offer a car shuttle service to Trier on Oct 8 (Tue). (Please do let us know should you require this service on Oct 9). Luxembourg Airport is very well connected with Trier by public transport (bus and train services), so we offer this only for people arriving after 20:00 hrs / 8 p.m.

Hotel Römischer Kaiser to Trier University:
The closest bus stops to the hotel are Porta Nigra 1-4 (100 metres walking distance), Theodor-Heuss-Allee (230 metres), and Porta Nigra 7-9 (270 metres). From Porta Nigra 2, Trier University can be reached in under twenty minutes via the bus lines listed below. To get to the bus stop Porta Nigra 2, you want to turn left towards the ancient Roman city gate known as Porta Nigra and walk onto the first street on the left. There you will find the bus stop sign nearby a Dean & David restaurant and right next to a local jewelry store.
From Porta Nigra 2 to bus stop Universität:
Bus 3 (towards Filsch/Tarforst Ludwig-Erhard-Ring)
Bus 13 (towards Kürenz am Weidengraben)
Bus 83 (towards Filsch/Tarforst L.-Erhard-Ring) in the early morning, the evening and on weekends
Bus 73 (towards Kürenz Am Weidengraben) in the early morning, the evening and on weekends
On your way back to the hotel, you can take the same routes in the opposite direction from bus stop Universität to Theodor-Heuss-Alleeor Porta Nigra 7-9.
Best Western Hotel to Trier University:
The closest bus stops to the hotel are Südallee/Kaiserstraßeand Rathaus/Stadttheater. The bus stop located in Kaiserstraße is right in front of the hotel. This is where the buses headed to Trier University depart. The bus ride to Trier University takes about 20 minutes. The buses headed in the opposite direction stop at Südallee (200 metres walking distance from the hotel). Thus, on your way back to the hotel you can get off there or at the bus stop Rathaus/Stadttheater, which is within 160 metres walking distance from the hotel.
From Südallee/Kaiserstraße to bus stop Universität:
Bus 3 (towards Filsch/Tarforst Ludwig-Erhard-Ring)
Bus 13 (towards Kürenz am Weidengraben)
Bus 83 (towards Filsch/Tarforst L.-Erhard-Ring) in the early morning, the evening and on weekends

Bus stop Universität to Workshop venue (Room A 9/10):
The buses stop right in front of Campus I. After exiting the bus, you will find a large blue map of Trier University around the corner. A few steps further you will see the road depicted in the image below. Turn left towards the blue and white building with a red brown spiral staircase (Building A). When you have reached this building, enter it through the entrance on the right-hand side. Inside, turn left and you will find room A 9/10 right around the corner on the left side.
