Linguistics

The linguistics section of the department has a strong focus on empirical, data-driven approaches to the English language, covering, e.g.,

  • English corpus linguistics,
  • native and non-native varieties of English as a world language,
  • historical linguistics and language change,
  • variation in language structure and the Mental Lexicon,
  • pragmatics, genres and stylistic variation.
