About Sandra
Since June 2013, I am a PhD student at the Environmental Remote Sensing and Geoinformatics Department of Trier University under the supervision of Prof. Joachim Hill. I work in the EnSAG project and deal with the application of hyperspectral data in forestry. My main research interest is the retrieval of forest type maps, analysis of drought stress and bark beetle calamities.
Until EnMAP data is available, we use airborne hyperspectral data which we record with two HySpex sensors mounted on a Cessna aircraft. Our study area is located in Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, mainly in the Donnersberg region and in the national park Hunsrück-Hochwald.
Besides from hyperspectral airborne data, I work with terrestrial laser scanning systems, field spectroscopy and field data acquired with traditional forest inventory techniques.
