Research in the Geoinformatics Unit
The Geoinformatics Unit combines interdisciplinary expertise to identify spatial processes and patterns and to study the resulting influences on the environment. Our research focus ranges from the regional analysis of ecological processes and sustainable land use, e.g. in the Hunsrück-Hochwald National Park, to the large-scale investigation of human-animal conflicts in Africa in the context of climate change. We use state-of-the-art geoinformation technologies to model complex systems and develop practical solutions. Our approach combines theory and application, supported by extensive technical equipment and close cooperation with regional and international partners. The following pages provide an overview of our current research projects, publications and the technical resources that make our work possible.
