  • TAXON-TIME: The TAXON-TIME project traces the history of the taxonomy of Amazonian plants to reveal how taxonomic change impacts macroecological patterns of species richness and abundance.
Due to its enormous diversity and continental coverage, changes in the taxonomy of Amazonian flora (in particular of hyper-dominant tree species), can have a cascading impact on global estimates of how many species there are on Earth and how many are threatened by habitat loss or climate change. TAXON-TIME provides an empirical account and quantification of such impact on tropical plants. TAXON-TIME is currently funded by the Spanish Research Council (CSIC). More info here and here.
  • SinBiAm: The SinBiAm project seeks to (1) strengthen and expand a collaborative network focused on synthesis research about Amazonian terrestrial and aquatic biodiversity, (2) inform public practices and policies focused on education, conservation and sustainable management, and (3) provide the training for future generations of decision-makers, educators, and scientists from, and working in, the Amazon. The SinBiAm project is funded by the Brazilian National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). More info here.
