Current project
Ecology and evolution of Mediterranean amphibians
The Mediterranean region is one of the world’s biodiversity hotspots. This also applies to amphibians, with the number of endemic taxa being exceptionally high. However, there is still a lack of knowledge on their evolution, ecology and conservation status.
We currently run the following sub-projects:
- Community-phylogeny and phylogeography of Mediterranean amphibians;
- Ecology, phylogeny and phylogeography of the genus Lyciasalamandra;
- Ecology and conservation biology of European cave salamanders, genus Hydromantes.
