Research
My research focus lies on legal history. Main research areas are
- the legal history of medieval and early modern trade and commerce
- medieval feudal law and its underlying social structures
- early contacts of British and German legal science, particularly between the 17th and 19th century
- Rhenish Law, i.e. French law applicable in German territories during the 19th century.
Regarding current private law, my research concentrates on the law of obligations and the law of inheritance.
