Classes
In all professional fields of psychology, it is important to be able to understand and accompany learning processes. Teaching this competence is the central goal of our teaching.
In the Bachelor's program we design
- Lecture A1 Introduction to Psychology as a Science, which provides important information about studying psychology in Trier and scientific working techniques to facilitate further studies;
- the lecture O1 Educational Psychology I, which provides an introductory overview of the most important concepts and findings in educational psychology;
- the seminar O2 Educational Psychology I, in which important subtopics of educational psychology are deepened in addition to the lecture (e.g. learning through conceptual change, school psychology or learning in infancy);
- Module S, in which students get to know the steps of professional intervention design and go through them during the semester as part of the development of their own pedagogical-psychological intervention; and
- further seminars, e.g. behavioral observation and interviewing.
In the Master's program we design
- the module Instruction and Learning Support in the focus area Talent Development, Instruction, Counseling;
- the lecture Multivariate Methods.
Correction of exams
Every semester, our department offers four exams for around 300 students. The grades for each exam are calculated uniformly and simultaneously for all students using an R-syntax in order to rule out clerical errors on our part. In addition to the exams, oral and portfolio examinations, presentations at international conferences, research activities and our family vacations also take place during the lecture-free period. We therefore ask for your understanding that the correction of exams in our department takes at least four weeks, takes place simultaneously for all students of an exam and no pre-corrections are possible.
Catching up on courses according to the old examination regulations in the new BSc
Since 2020, we have had new examination regulations for the BSc (ER 2020), which are compatible with the new licensing regulations for psychotherapists. For students who started their studies before 2020, an old ER (ER 2012 or ER 2008) still applies.
The lectures Educational Psychology I and II according to the old ER will be offered for the last time in SS 21 and WS 21/22. The O3 seminars according to the old ER will be offered for the last time in winter semester 2021/22.
Until the end of SS 2024, the examinations according to the old ER will still be created in PORTA and you can take these examinations.
If you are studying in the old BSc and have to catch up on module O, you can view the old lectures O1 Educational Psychology I and O2 Educational Psychology II online (please contact Ursula Weiland to activate them) and then write the corresponding exam (final exam of module O Educational Psychology according to the old ER). As usual, you must register for the exam on PORTA in good time. The video lecture is the version from SS21 and WS 21/22. All future exams according to the old ER will refer to this lecture version.
As a replacement for the seminar O3 according to the old ER, you can take the seminar O2 according to ER 2020. It will not be displayed in PROZA. Instead, contact Ursula Weiland towards the end of the semester break, explain the situation and ask to be admitted to a seminar in the department.
