Educational Psychology

Welcome to our website. Our research group, led by Prof. Michael Schneider, investigates how learners on all age levels acquire conceptual understanding and flexible procedural skills. The competencies arise from well-structured knowledge representations in long-term memory. In our research, we investigate how learners build up such knowledge structures over time and how instruction and practice aid these processes. In our classes, we discuss knowledge construction processes and the didactic, technological, motivational, and social determinants of their success.
