A sun photometer can measure solar irradiance in several wavelengths. Under the assumption of constant solar emittance the atmospheric turbidity can be calculated from the ratio of irradiance at ground level to ex-atmospheric irradiance. From this, we can calculate aerosol , water vapor, and ozone content.
