Since April 2006, Franzis Preckel is full Professor of Giftedness Research and Education at the Department of Psychology, University of Trier. In addition, she is Visiting Professor at the University of Luxembourg since November 2015.
Between January 2002 and October 2003, she was a research fellow at the Institute of Psychology IV of Münster. Between November 2003 and February 2004, she was a research fellow at the Department of Psychology of the Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU) of Munich. In March 2004, she became tenured research staff member (Akademische Rätin) at the Department of Psychology of the LMU Munich. She held this position until March 2006. During her time at the LMU, Franzis Preckel was head of the Counseling Center for the Gifted and Talented.
