Headed by Prof. Dr. Franzis Preckel, the research focus of our department is on intelligence, intellectual giftedness, and factors influencing the development of achievement.

Our research projects aim at finding answers to the questions how (high) intelligence can be assessed, which factors influence the development of achievement, and how intellectually gifted students can be promoted in the family and school contexts.

Our teaching focus is on diagnostics and assessment (test theory, test construction, achievement and personality assessment) and topics of applied psychological assessment, differential psychology (intelligence, creativity, and giftedness) and educational psychology (psychological counseling and promotion of the gifted).
