Getting to Trier
There are different options to get to Trier: by plane, train, bus or car.
Arrival by train
When travelling by train, either within Germany or from a European country, you can find train connections via the Deutsche Bahn website (www.bahn.de) or via the website of your local train operator. Your destination is Trier Hbf.
Arrival by plane
The airports Luxembourg, Frankfurt am Main, Frankfurt-Hahn, Köln/Bonn and Saarbrücken are all in the vicinity of Trier. We recommend the airports Frankfurt am Main and Luxembourg if you arrive from North or South America, Asia, Oceania or Africa. If you arrive from Europe, we additionally recommend the airports Saarbrücken, Frankfurt-Hahn und Köln/Bonn. The latter two ones are also frequented by low budget airlines.
Arrival via Airport Luxembourg (LUX)
There is a direct bus operating from Luxembourg airport to Trier. More information can be found on the airport's website: www.lux-airport.lu
Alternatively, you can take the regular city bus from Airport Luxembourg to the train station Luxembourg and from there the train to Trier (Hauptbahnhof). More information is available on the Deutsche Bahn website: www.bahn.de
Arrival via Airport Frankfurt (FRA)
From the airport Frankfurt you can get to Trier (Hauptbahnhof) by train. Further information is available on the Deutsche Bahn website: www.bahn.de
Arriving via Airport Frankfurt-Hahn (HHN)
There are no direct bus connections from Frankfurt-Hahn airport to Trier. Information on getting to and from Frankfurt-Hahn airport can be found on their website: www.hahn-airport.de
Arrival via Airport Köln/Bonn (CGN)
From the airport Köln/Bonn you can take the train to Trier (Hauptbahnhof). Further information is available on the website of the Deutsche Bahn: www.bahn.de.
Arrival via Airport Saarbrücken (SCN)
There is a bus connection from Saarbrücken airport to the main train station in Saarbrücken. From there you can take the train to Trier (Hauptbahnhof). Further information is available on the Deutsche Bahn website: www.bahn.de.

Travelling by city bus (from the city centre)
From the main train station (Hauptbahnhof)
- Route 3 (towards Filsch / L.-Erhard-Ring): weekdays every 15 minutes, bus stop Universität
- Route 13 (towards Weidengraben): weekdays every 15 minutes, bus stop Universität
- Route 83/88 (towards Tarforst): early mornings, evenings and weekends every half an hour, bus stop Universität
- Route 230 (towards Kell): weekdays every hour, bus stop Universität
- Route 31 (towards Pluwig / Bonerath): every half an hour, bus stop Universität Süd
- Route 81 (towards Tarforst): early mornings, evenings and weekends every half an hour, bus stop Universität Süd
From Porta Nigra/Karl-Marx-Haus (the Karl Marx house)/Kaiserthermen (the Imperial Baths)
- Route 6 (towards Tarforst): weekdays every twenty minutes, bus stop Universität Süd
From Porta Nigra/Petrisberg neighbourhood/Campus II
- Route 4 (towards Irsch): weekdays every half an hour, bus stop Universität / Universität Hauptgebäude
- Route 14 (towards Uni Mensa): weekdays every half an hour, bus stop Universität Parkplatz or Universität Mensa
Directions by car
- From any of the main routes to Trier, follow the signs to the university.
- On Campus I you can use the free parking in the Besucherparkplätze Ost (visitor parking lot east) (recommended for building A, B, C, V, DM, N und P, Audimax/Mensa, Studihaus, library und laboratory building) or the Besucherparkplätze West (visitor parking lot west) (recommended for Audimax/Mensa, library, building D, E und N).

Directions by bicycle (from the city centre)
There is a beautiful and peaceful bike path through the Avelertal.
Also, the Kleeburger Weg is a good route for bikes, as the grade is not very steep and there is not much traffic.
Food and Drinks
You are welcome to visit the canteen and other facilities run by the Studiwerk.
These are located in the Mensa Building (Mensa Tarforst and Oliva), in Building A (AB-Café) and in Building C (Klappschmier).
The main cafeteria at Trier University, also vegetarian/vegan options in the Mensa Building.
Pizza, pasta and bowls, also vegetarian/vegan options, immediately next to the main canteen in the Mensa Building.

Further options close to the campus
Food options within short walking distance (5-10 minutes) from the conference venue. It may be adviseable to call them to make a reservation:
• Glashaus, closed on Wednesdays!
• Great Wok, Asian buffet
• Dolce Vita, closed on Wednesdays!
• Mido Uni-Kebap: Kebab shop, very limited seating, mostly takeaway
Glashaus, Great Wok and Mido Uni-Kebap are all very close to each other, in the 'Im Treff' area just across the road from campus.
Options within walking distance (ca. 20 min)
• Sushi Petrisberg, conveyor belt restaurant, closed lunchtime on Fridays.
• Pizza Club, spectacular view, fine pizza
• Adana Ocakbasi 01 Restaurant, turkish food
