Measures taken by Trier University to protect against sexual harassment, discrimination or violence

Trier University is unequivocally committed to the protection against sexual harassment in the workplace and place of study. Numerous measures serve to prevent and protect against such incidents:

1. appointment of a senate commissioner for the protection against sexual harassment in the workplace and place of study
2. adoption of a Senate directive on the protection against sexual harassment in the workplace and place of study in Trier
3. a wide range of counselling and support services for those affected
4. further topic-related training for counsellors as well as for managers
5. improving security on campus.

Trier University respects its responsibility as an employer as well as its responsibility towards the students. The university has formulated clear principles for dealing with sexual harassment, discrimination and violence:

"Trier University expects all members and other users of the university, but especially adminstrators and lecturers who, due to their function, bear special responsibility towards third parties, to behave in a way that contributes to the creation of a climate of trust and security and does not allow sexual harassment, discrimination and violence.“

and

"Employers and supervisors assume responsibility for sanctioning sexual harassment, discrimination and violence in their respective areas of responsibility.“
