The workshop offers practical assistance, guidelines and suggestions for organizing a conference. It is aimed at doctoral candidates and young scientists who are planning a conference, who are thinking about hosting a conference or who are simply curious about what needs to be considered when organizing a conference. The workshop provides information, but at the same time offers space for exchange.
We will touch upon the following topics: Why organize a conference? | Finding and evaluating a topic | Target group | Project planning strategies and methods | First plans: date, place, format | Conference and session formats | Money and financial support | The Call for Papers | Communication with applicants and participants | Promotion of the conference | The ‚little things‘: From name tags to coffee breaks to parking facilities, assistants, etc. | The conference itself | Conference folders, apps, websites | Sustainable Benefits of the Conference: Publication and Network
This workshop will take our current situation and its challenges and opportunities into account. We will consider online, hybrid, and in-person conferences.
