General Information
If you have any questions as a first-year student, you can contact us. Just write a Mail or visit us in Office F57. Dr. Müller or the central Student advisory service at the University of Trier will also be happy to help you.
Basic information about the course itself can be found on this page.
At the beginning of the winter semester, the university holds general introductory events for all first-year students before lectures start.
The preliminary course "Formal Basics of Computer Science" by Mr. Fernau usually takes place the week before the start of lectures - more information can be found in the overview of all initial courses linked below. In the first week (orientation week), various advisory events take place: In addition to the introductory event by Mr. Müller, the study information event and the preliminary course by Mr. Fernau, which you should definitely take part in, we offer an introduction to the Linux operating system, also known as a Linux crash course. The computer science department's computers only run Linux. That's why it's important that you have basic knowledge, e.g. B. to start an editor in Linux. The Linux crash course is a must for new students who have not yet worked with Linux/Unix systems. When this will take place will be announced during the orientation week at the latest. In the crash course you will be given a script. You can also download this as a PDF. There is also a lecture by Christoph Lange on the crash course as a tele-TASK recording, which dates back to 2004.
You can find out more about the bachelor's degree program under Studies.
You can find a timetable on this page. The events are fully documented in the examination regulations, and there is also a very helpful Study plan.
