KVAB Position Paper: Cognitive talent under pressure

In 2025, the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts (KVAB) invited Franzis Preckel to join its “Thinkers Program” as a “Thinker.” Under the title “Care for Talent,” she collaborated with Lianne Hoogeveen, a Dutch colleague, to address issues related to identifying and supporting children and adolescents with high cognitive potential in the Flanders region. The findings have now been published as a KVAB position paper in Dutch and English.

THINKERS Cycle “Care for Talent”

In 2024, Franzis Preckel, together with Lianne Hoogeveen, a Dutch scientist, was invited by the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts (KVAB) as a “thinker” to address issues relating to the identification and promotion of children and young people with high cognitive potential in the Flanders region as part of the “Care for talent” cycle. The results were presented in Brussels on June 11, 2025, and published in a report. Videos of the presentations at the final symposium in Brussels can be found here.
