Jayanthi Pandiyan is a Research Associate at the Chair in Comparative Politics at Trier University. Her research focuses on EU trade policy, economic statecraft, and the geopolitical dynamics shaping the international political economy, with particular emphasis on EU and US strategies. She is affiliated with the Jean Monnet Chair EU Trade Policy and the Rise of Geopolitics (Prof. Dr. Joachim Schild) and contributes to its research and public engagement activities.
Her doctoral dissertation examines how the EU and the United States use trade instruments—such as export controls, investment screening, and industrial policy—as tools of economic statecraft in response to China’s technological rise. She previously studied in India, earning a bachelor’s degree in political science, a master’s in international studies, and an M. Phil in International Relations.
