Sustainability Transitions Lab

Welcome to the Website of the Sustainability Transitions Lab at Trier University! Our work includes research and applied projects focused on sustainable and alternative climate change strategies at the urban and regional scale in respect to green economies (e.g. green building, waste management, circular economy, alternative and postgrowth economies and green entrepreneurship), environmental governance, sustainable urban development and planning, climate justice and politics. Additional topics include environmental activism and (resource) conflicts in particular in respect to the forest sector (Canada, Australia), spatial dimensions of environmental activism. Our work draws on and contributes to discourses in environmental economic geography, alternative economies, policy mobility, social practice theory, political economy and governance studies (e.g. rescaling). One other central area of our work concerns sustainability education and pedagogy of geography in higher education with a focus on innovative teaching approaches as well as (social) science education.
