„Detecting the genomic and transcriptomic imprints of environmental change in a marine fish species through space and time“

The common eelpout is one of the best indicator species for environmental changes and pollution. This project aims to utilize decades of perfectly conserved population samples, collected by the Environmental Specimen Bank program of the Federal Republic of Germany (Umweltprobenbank des Bundes). These resources are the foundation to trace signals of genomic evolution in the common eelpout to environmental stress (i.e. temperature and salinity) through recent time and the species range.
